Native Trees Planting Activity in Colombia
This quarter, Betsson Latam is focusing more on sustainability and environmental impact.
Our colleagues in Colombia participated in a native tree planting activity, which will play a crucial role in providing ecosystem services in the region of Bogota’s Sabana. Over their lifetime these trees will help mitigate the effects of flooding and contribute to air purification by absorbing and storing pollutants like carbon dioxide. Our team managed to plant 14 trees.
In addition to this activity, Betsson Latam partnered with a Colombian non-profit organization that safeguards the páramos, or moorlands, called Cumbres Blancas and donated 200 frailejones! The frailejones are remarkable plants known as “water factories” because they capture moisture from the environment and store it. This nourishes the streams and rivers that originate in the páramo, which in turn provides water to many urban and rural areas. We hope that the nurturing of these plants and their introduction to the páramo will enhance their habitat and support the generation of much-needed water.
Betsson also participated in similar initiatives in 2023 as part of our climate compensation strategy.
