Celebrating Earth Day at Betsson Group
At Betsson Group, we are committed to fostering a more sustainable future. To commemorate Earth Day 2024, during the month of April, we coordinated numerous initiatives across our worldwide offices, all directed towards promoting eco-friendly initiatives.
On one side, our Head of Sustainability, Jonna Danlund, shared with our Betssonites across the globe many environmentally friendly ways to commute to work and encouraged them with suggestions and tips to get involved in a circular economy.
Our operational HQ in Malta held a plogging activity, a Swedish-born eco-friendly workout combining jogging or walking with litter collection. As a thank you, participants were given foldable silicone cups to continue combating single-use plastics. We also joined fellow iGaming companies in a clean-up organised by iGEN – iGaming European Network at Ghadira Bay in northern Malta. As a result of the clean-up efforts, 700 kilograms of waste were successfully cleared from the beach.
Meanwhile, our Betssonites in Estonia immersed themselves in a planting activity, learning how to cultivate their own tomatoes, chilies, and herbs, fostering a green office environment. Betsson employees placed their cultivates in the office to watch their efforts flourish into edible plants.
Betsson Latam had an environmental trivia, which raised awareness among employees about their personal footprint, the effects of the fashion industry, and the importance of recycling. To keep the spotlight on sustainability and environmental impact, our Latam Betssonites in Colombia will also be planting native trees. These native trees will serve as an invaluable ecosystem service in the region, absorbing and storing carbon dioxide throughout their lifetimes, mitigating the effects of flooding, and purifying the air by absorbing pollutants.
At our office in Georgia, we provided an engaging but concise message addressing “Planet vs. Plastic,” complemented with a topic-related quiz, culminating in a lucky participant winning a houseplant as a symbol of their commitment to environmental consciousness.
Agricultural seeds were distributed to our employees at the Betsson Group offices in Stockholm, Sweden, to motivate them to grow their own produce. We offered diverse seeds, including tomato, cucumber, rhubarb, scallions, chili, wild strawberry, basil, coriander, and parsley. Additionally, this initiative presented a great opportunity for our Betssonites to utilise the nutrient-rich soil produced by the compost machine located in the office.
Lastly, in Lithuania, our employees came together once again for their annual tree-planting activity as part of Betsson Group’s social impact initiatives. This year’s initiative saw an impressive 3,700 trees planted, underscoring the continuity and significance of this impactful tradition for the second consecutive year.
